Tom Hanks-2-1024x767Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born on July 9, 1956, is an American actor. Popular for his comedic and dramatic performances, he is considered to be one of the most admired and recognizable film stars worldwide and is considered an American famous cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born in Concord, California, to Janet Marylyn a hospital worker as well as Amos Mefford Hanks, an itinerant cook. His mother, initially referred to "Fraga", was part of a Portuguese family. His father, however, was mostly English. Tom was raised in what he calls a "fractured" family. He has no acting experience in college , and credits the failure to get a role in a college play with actually starting his career. He auditioned in the city for a play in the community theater. The director offered him a trip to Cleveland and that was where his acting career began.
